Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys win the NFC East
The Dallas Cowboys secured the NFC East title and the No. 2 seed in the conference with a resounding 38-10 victory over the Washington Commanders. Quarterback Dak Prescott’s stellar performance, including four touchdown passes, highlighted the team’s growth and improvement compared to the previous year. Thousands of Dallas fans celebrated in the Commanders’ stadium, chanting “Let’s go, Cowboys!” as the team clinched a 12-5 record for the third consecutive year and earned the opportunity to host the Green Bay Packers in the upcoming playoffs.
Prescott, who threw two of his four touchdown passes to star wideout CeeDee Lamb, expressed the team’s progress, emphasizing factors such as coaching, player accountability, communication, and transparency. The Cowboys’ owner, Jerry Jones, lauded Prescott’s outstanding season, leading the league with 36 touchdown throws to only nine interceptions. The connection between Prescott and Lamb proved elite, with Lamb recording 13 catches on 13 targets in the game, elevating him to an NFL-high 135 receptions.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Washington Commanders, finishing the season at 4-13, face uncertainty as coach Ron Rivera anticipates a meeting with owner Josh Harris. Despite the loss, Washington secured the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft, potentially addressing quarterback concerns after Sam Howell’s challenging season. The Commanders endured an eight-game losing streak, including a winless stretch since Rivera took over defensive play-calling duties after firing defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio.
The Cowboys now prepare to face the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs, marking a significant matchup for a team with an unbeaten record at home and a 16-game winning streak in Dallas. Meanwhile, the Commanders are expected to undergo a significant overhaul of their coaching staff and roster in the offseason.
